Centenary Celebrations

BRIEF REPORT OF VARIOUS PROGRAMMES CONCLUDED IN THE CENTENARY CELEBRATIONS OF ALL INDIA AYURVEDIC CONGRESS

The A.I.A.C. completed 100 years of its establishment in 2007. The state branches of A.I.A.C. started centenary celebrations since beginning of 2007 which continued all over the country till middle of 2009. Thereafter the grand centenary celebration alongwith world Ayurveda Congress were held from 6th to 8th October, 2009 at Siri Fort Auditorium, August Kranti Marg, New Delhi. More than 1500 delegates from India and large number of delegates from foreign countries attended these celebrations.

A large Ayurvedic Exhibition was arranged on 6th Oct. 2009 which was inaugurated at 4 p.m. by Shri Prabhat C. Chaturvedi, Secretary, Labour & Employment Ministry. The delegates and general public of Delhi in large number were on the stalls on 7th & 8th Oct. 2009 also.

The inauguration of the Centenary Celebration was held on 7th Oct. 2009 at 11.30 A.M. by Her Excellency Smt. Pratibha Devisinghji Patil, President of India. The inaugural session was also attended by Chief Minister of Delhi Hon’ble Smt. Sheila Dikshit ji and Minister of State for Health & Family Welfare. Hon’ble Shri S. Gandhiselvanji. All of them delivered their lectures describing utility & further development of this system.

The International Ayurveda Conference was held after the lunch from 2 P.M. which was inaugurated by Hon’ble Dr. Ashok Walia ji, Finance Minister of Govt. of NCT Delhi. Smt. S. Jalaja, Secretary, Dept. of AYUSH, Govt. of India and well known international expert of Ayurvedic principles Dr. Deepak Chopra were present as Guest of Honour in this session. A large number of delegates from foreign countries attended this conference and informed the development of Ayurveda in their country and also some of delegates presented their scientific papers.

On the same day from 4.15 P.M. a Conference on Ayurveda & Yoga was organized which was inaugurated by World Teacher of Art of Living Hon’ble Sri Sri Ravishankarji. This programme was presided by Dr. Deepak Chopra of U.S.A. Shri Basavareddy, Director, National Institute of Yoga and Dr. Ram Harsh Singh, Ex-Vice Chancellor of Rajasthan Ayurved University, Jodhpur presented their views in respect of inter relation between Ayurveda & Yoga.

In the evening from 7 P.M. the famous dancer Nalini and Kamalini presented their dance for one hour which was appreciated by all foreign & Indian Delegates.

From 9 A.M. to 11 A.M. on 8th Oct. 2009 a seminar on Utilization of Ayurveda in National Health Programme was inaugurated by Hon’ble Shri Nitish Kumar ji, Chief Minister of Bihar. The seminar was presided by Hon’ble Smt. Kiran Walia ji, Minister for Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of NCT Delhi. This programme was also attended by Smt. S. Jalaja, Secretary, Dept. of AYUSH, Govt. of India and Dr. P.N. V. Kurup, President of National Academy of Ayurveda & Ex-Vice Chancellor of Gujarat Ayurveda University, Jamangar. A large number of delegates presented their views and papers in the seminar also.

From 11.15 A.M. to 1 P.M. a conference on Ayurvedic Drug Industry was held which was inaugurated by Hon’ble Shri Ramesh Pokhariyal ji, Chief Minister of Uttrakhand. This programme was presided by Hon’ble Dr. Rajiv Bindal ji, Minister for Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of Himachal Pradesh, Shri B. Anand, Joint Secretary, Dept. of AYUSH, Govt. of India, Shri Ajay Sharma of Baidyananth Ayurved Bhawan, Shri Ranjit Puranik of Shri Dhootpapeshwar Industry, Shri Pradep Multani of Multani Ayurvedic Pharmacy and many others presented their views in the conference.

After the lunch a seminar on Ayurvedic Education & Research was arranged on 2 P.M. to 4 P.M. which was presided by Dr. G. S. Lavekar, Director General of Central Council for Research in Ayurveda & Siddha. Many dignitaries like Dr. Banwari Lal Gaur, Vice Chancellor of Rajasthan Ayurveda Vidyapeeth, Dr. K. R. Kohli, Director of Ayurveda, Govt. of Maharasthra, Dr. V.V. Prasad, Driector, Rashtriya Ayurveda Vidyapeeth, Dr. Premvati Tiwari, Ex-Dean, Banaras Hindu University, Dr. V.N. Pandey, Ex-Director of Central Council of Research in Ayurveda & Siddha and many others presented their views in this seminar.

In the afternoon from 4 P.M. to 6 P.M. Valedictory Celebration was held which was presided by Vaidya Devendra Triguna, President of All India Ayurvedic Congress & Vaidya S.K. Mishra, President All India Ayurveda Vidyapeeth. On this occasion President of various state branches of All India Ayurvedic Congress were felicitated and also presented their views. Vaidya Ram Prasad Mishra, General Secretary of All India Ayurvedic Congress concluded with thanks to all delegates and everyone who assisted this centenary celebrations.
